OF COURSE, by “ass” here, we mean any of several hoofed mammals resembling and closely related to horses but with a smaller build and longer ears — namely, the domesticated donkey.
We are definitely not referring to anyone’s derriere — although, admittedly, the term is sometimes used to describe a person who does or says stupid things.
And speaking of stupidity, another “useful idiot” — or rather, “cultural worker” — is making headlines on social media, courtesy of the usual suspects and pseudo-communist propaganda fronts.
An arrested member of the New People’s Army (NPA) is now facing a murder charge following a deadly encounter on March 29 in San Jose, Occidental Mindoro, where an Army officer was killed in action.
The suspect, alias “Ka Kaye,” was apprehended after the clash in Sitio Salafay, Barangay Monteclaro. The encounter resulted in the death of Captain Dean Buen Oyando and left two soldiers wounded during pursuit operations. She is currently in the custody of the San Jose Municipal Police Station.
In a statement, Colonel Michael Aquino, spokesperson of the 2nd Infantry “Jungle Fighter” Division, said Charlize “Ka Kaye/Ceeka” Garzon would be charged in connection with the death of Captain Oyando, an officer of the elite Scout Rangers, as well as the wounding of two other soldiers who remain unidentified and are undergoing medical treatment.
Garzon will also face charges for illegal possession of firearms and explosives — the latter being a non-bailable offense.
As expected, the usual suspects — pseudo-communist groups such as Karapatan, Kabataan Party-list, and Panday Sining, all considered fronts of the CPP-NPA-NDF — claimed that she was merely a cultural worker, a researcher, an artist studying why the Mangyan-Iraya people are not into social media or TikTok gyrations “like a salted worm.”
Moving on — now they are calling them development workers. Really, how quaint. Usually, they are labeled as cultural workers or researchers. One wonders what they will come up with next — hopefully something creative and not as predictable.
Now, here is what actually happened — minus the tantrums and shrill rhetoric of these so-called front organizations.
Police arrested two female activists on Maundy Thursday, April 2, in the town of Pavia, Iloilo province.
The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) and the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) identified them as Josephine Parra Porquia and Maria Luisa Tagamolila Guillen.
PRO-6 said the two are suspected members of Kilusang Rehiyon – Panay, which authorities describe as the regional party committee of the Communist Party of the Philippines and its armed wing, the New People’s Army, operating in Panay.
The operation targeted Porquia on the strength of a June 28, 2012 arrest warrant for rebellion issued by a regional trial court, with recommended bail set at P40,000.
Meanwhile, Guillen was arrested for allegedly interfering in Porquia’s arrest.
Authorities also alleged that Porquia was found in possession of materials used for improvised explosive devices, which could lead to charges of illegal possession, manufacture, and dealing of explosives. Both are detained at the Pavia Municipal Police Station and have denied the charges and allegations.
Here’s more “interesting” background on these so-called development workers:
Porquia is the widow of Jose Reynaldo “Jory” Porquia, whom police alleged was a former Panay coordinator of another CPP-NPA-NDF front organization, the Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (Bayan). He was killed by unidentified assailants in 2020v— though activists claimed state agents were responsible.
Guillen, on the other hand, is suspected of being an active member of yet another alleged CPP-NPA-NDF front group, Gabriela.
Hmmm… rather curious associations for supposedly harmless “development workers.”
And by the way, we are simply describing these so-called development/cultural workers based on publicly available facts. Surely, we are not engaging in any “red-tagging” here.
“Development/cultural workers”? Really? That sounds rather lame. Why not call them consultants for Binibining Pilipinas — out scouting among the hoi polloi for possible candidates?/PN
