Diergos slay: Criminal case vs suspects to be filed ‘anytime from now’ — police

ILOILO – Without disclosing how many suspects the special investigation team (SIT) has on the death of businesswoman Claire Diergos, the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) said criminal charges could be filed “anytime from now.”

“We have to wait for the go signal of our lawyers. We have a legal team in-charge of the filing of the case,” said Police Staff Master Sergeant Francis Lindero, spokesperson.

More than five people have come forward to volunteer information, Lindero said.

“We need to carefully check their statements – there were critical statements,” he said. “Need naton e-plastar sang maayo para indi masayang ang aton pag-file sa korte. Gina id-id sang maayo sang aton abogado ang mga affidavits.”

Lindero said once the evidence and affidavits are complete, the criminal case would be filed.

On Sunday, Diergos was laid to rest in her hometown in Buenavista, Guimaras.

Her family and friends were crying for justice.

IPPO director, Police Colonel Gilbert Gorero said the SIT was doing everything to crack the case.

Wala kita nagapabaya sa sining kaso,” said Gorero.

Diergos was killed in her house at Deca Homes Subdivision, Pavia town and later abandoned in Barangay Inangayan, Santa Barbara. She was discovered on Oct. 26.

The angles the SIT is pursuing are jealousy/revenge, robbery with homicide, crime of passion, and Diergos’ business dealings./PN
