ILOILO City – The “Pamukaw” on Saturday, Dec. 16, officially signaled the start of the much-anticipated Dinagyang Festival 2024.
On Saturday morning, Dinagyang Ati Tribes competition participating tribes gave a sneak peek of their performance during the foot parade starting in front of San Jose Parish de Placer in honor of Señor Sto. Niño.
“As we kickstart the celebration, we will rejuvenate the spirit of unity and cooperation among the Ilonggos, aspiring for the utmost success of all our festivities. This moment also provides an opportunity for gratitude towards Señor Sto. Niño for the blessings of protection, resilience, and guidance,” said Jay Treñas, special assistant to the mayor, who delivered a message in behalf of Mayor Jerry Treñas.
Also present to lead the Pamukaw were Iloilo Festivals Foundation, Inc. (IFFI) chairman Rito Carlos Peña, San Rafael mayor Don Roberto Belleza Jr., and San Jose Parish de Placer parish priest Rev. Fr. Renchie Vicente Senoro, OSA.
The eight high school-based tribes who will be competing on the festival’s highlight on Jan. 28 are the following:
* Tribu Ilonganon from Jalandoni Memorial National High School
* Tribu Mandu-riyaw from Mandurriao National High School
* Tribu Paghidaet from La Paz National High School
* Tribu Pan-ay from Fort San Pedro National High School
* Tribu Salognon from Jaro National High School
* Tribu Sigabong from Ramon Avanceña National High School
* Tribu Silak from Iloilo City National High School
* Tribu Taga-Baryo from Bo. Obrero National High School/PN
