Does decision-making burn you out? Here’s what to do

When was the last time you had to make a difficult decision? How did it feel like weighing your options? Oftentimes, the harder decisions to make are those between or among several good choices. Having several options can be just as hard as having none at all.

And the reason is this…

When it comes down to equally good possibilities, the fear of losing out on the option you won’t take becomes real.

It’s far from being indecisive. Many life-changing decisions aren’t as simple as what color to paint a room or what shirt to wear on a given day. So how do you make decision-making less difficult?
Take a closer look at what you truly value.

When it comes to choosing your career path,  life partner, or even company to work for, the best way to navigate your decision-making process is to see if their core values align with yours.

Here are five core values that not only guarantee success in the workplace but will also enable you to live the life you want.

PASSIONATE – Being passionate means that you will run towards the storm instead of running away from it.  It also means that you love what you do and that you will do anything humanly possible to achieve the goal that’s placed in front of you.

RESULTS DRIVEN – You are focused on achieving a great outcome. You want to make things happen and happen fast. You want to win. Being results-driven means you define goals and ways that set you apart from everyone else.

COMMITTED – Being committed means you stay on course no matter the challenge.  When the going gets tough, you don’t quit. You find ways to hit your goal. Nothing stops you. Staying committed means having the willingness to stick to it even when things get hard.

CARING – Caring is showing genuine kindness and concern for others. Being caring doesn’t mean doing something good in return for a future favor. Instead, it means you are polite, considerate, patient, understanding, and forgiving. You go out of your way to make others feel special and appreciated.

RESOURCEFUL – Regardless of the challenge, you don a “Make it happen” attitude. Being resourceful has been the secret of many successful individuals (and companies) in history. You create effective and unique solutions to meet challenges. Resourcefulness also has a lot to do with adapting well to difficult or new situations.

Being passionate, results-driven, committed, caring, and resourceful are great core values to live by.  It helps determine priorities, and perhaps deep down, it also helps you measure if your life is turning out the way you want it to be.

Do these values resonate with you?

“Being passionate means that you will run towards the storm instead of running away from it.”

“You don’t want to just compete; you want to win.”

“Nothing will stop you!”

“I truly love that caring is part of our DNA.”

“Your ‘Make It Happen Attitude’ is what has propelled this company forward.”

These are words from NEARSOL’s CEO, Victor Pereda.  Imagine how it would feel like to work alongside people who have the same values as you do!  Picture how your career trajectory could be if everyone works hard… without losing the compassion and care that many progressive organizations so notoriously lack.
