AKLAN – This province has been flagged by the Department of Health (DOH) for a positive two-week growth in coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases.
With low intensive care and COVID-19 ward bed utilization, however, Aklan remains under a low-risk case classification.
The average daily attack rate from Dec. 7 to 20 per 100,000 population in Aklan was at 0.08 compared to 0.05 in the two weeks prior (Nov. 23 to Dec. 6), according to DOH undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire.
The moving two-week growth rate showed 75 percent for Aklan, while four other areas (Tawi-Tawi and Camiguin, Olongapo City and Iligan City) reported high positive two-week growth rate. These areas remain under Alert Level 2, according to DOH.
As of Dec. 26, DOH Region 6 data showed Aklan with 133 active COVID-19 cases; 12,285 total recovered cases; and 202 deaths./PN
