MANILA – Hospitals across the country are ready to respond to any incidents this Holy Week when most of the people are on vacation, according to the Department of Health (DOH).
Secretary Teodoro Herbosa declared a “code white” on all hospitals to be ready for all possible incidents, especially heat-related illnesses.
“Our warnings on the effects of heat illnesses, especially for people going to hot areas like the beaches, are very important. Stay protected. Use sunscreen. Hydrate. Don’t stay too long in the sun,” said Herbosa in a media briefing at Malacañang.
The Health Secretary also underscored that they will monitor drowning incidents as many people may be trooping to beaches.
“Very important din to watch your family, especially in these places where you are vacationing and relaxing. Make sure you do not drink and drive. Do not text and drive. Follow the rules of the road,” Herbosa said.
Herbosa also stressed the importance of proper ventilation when indoors, advising people to drink at least seven to eight glasses of water daily to prevent heat cramps, heat exhaustion, and heat stroke.
He hoped that there would be no road rage incidents among travelers this Holy Week.
“’Di ba, Holy Week. B e patient and be kind to the other road users,” Herbosa said./PN
