DOH Region 6 gets new director by July

ILOILO City – The Department of Health (DOH) in Region 6 is getting a new chief beginning Thursday, July 1.   

Incoming regional health director Adriano P. Subaan paid Iloilo’s Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr. a courtesy visit yesterday. He was accompanied by Dr. Mary Pauline C. Gestosani, development management officer at the DOH-6.

Subaan would be replacing Dr. Emilia Monicimpo who is set to retire from government service.

He and Defensor discussed the provincial government’s healthcare system adjustments in case of a surge in coronavirus infections , as well as preparation against the entry of the Delta (Indian) variant of SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Let us help each other so we can have a system here in Iloilo province which won’t be upset kon magsaka ang aton nga COVID-19,” Defensor told Panay News. “We are preparing for the worst…we are preparing for the Delta variant, amo ‘na subong ang direction.”

Subaan’s visit marks a collaboration, he added.  

Aside from COVID woes with district hospitals recording high admissions, Defensor also took note of the possible surge in dengue case.
