DOJ summons 13 Pampanga ‘ninja cops’

MANILA – The Department of Justice (DOJ) issued subpoenas against 13 alleged “ninja cops,” including Police Major Rodney Baloyo, into the re-investigation of charges against them.

Baloyo and his co-respondents were ordered to appear for the probe and submit additional evidences on Oct. 16, as stated in the subpoena issued by the special panel of prosecutors handling the case.

DOJ secretary Menardo Guevarra ordered the re-investigation of the dismissed criminal complaint against the said cops, who allegedly recycled illegal drugs seized in operations.

The special panel of prosecutors is composed of Senior Assistant State prosecutor Alexander Suarez and Assistant State prosecutors Josie Christina Dugay and Gino Paulo Santiago.

The dismissed case accused the policemen of violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

The case which was filed by the Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group stemmed from the 2013 illegal drugs operations in Mexico, Pampanga.

The policemen involved in the operation allegedly kept 160 kilograms of shabu, got P50 million and new sports utility vehicles in exchange for the release of alleged Chinese drug lord Johnson Lee./PN
