ILOILO City – To fight poverty, curb child labor, and support rural economic recovery, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Region 6 released a total of P36.5 million in livelihood assistance to over 1,400 beneficiaries during the 123rd Labor Day Job Fair held at Robinsons Place Iloilo on May 1.
The funds, distributed under DOLE’s Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP) or Kabuhayan Program, aim to empower poor, vulnerable, and marginalized workers across Western Visayas through sustainable livelihood support.
The recipients were:
* Katilingban Sang Mga Agraryo Padulong Sa Pag-Uswag Sang Agrarian Reform Cooperative (KASAPPI) – P2,996,800 for the Farm Tractor Services Project
* Samahan ng Mangingisdang Matatag at Responsable sa Tarong (SMART) – P1,198,700 for several initiatives, including Provision of Triple Net for Danggit Fishing, Duck Laying Project, Native Chicken Project, and Pamulaw Fishing Project
* Cabatuan Multi-Purpose Cooperative (CAMPCO) – P1,998,250 for the Enhancement of Fish Trading and Community Store Project
* Linayuan Farmers Association – P998,600 for the Rice Trading Project
* LGU Brgy. Banban, Lambunao, Iloilo – P1,104,200 for the Dishwashing Liquid Project and Pre and Post Farm Machineries Project
* LGU Brgy. Polopiña, Concepcion, Iloilo – P1,995,000 for various livelihood projects
* LGU Brgy. Dasal, Sibunag, Guimaras – P998,450 to support livelihood initiatives for parents of child laborers, aiming to eliminate child labor and help children stay in or return to school
