ILOILO City – The Department of Tourism (DOT) Region 6 is now holding office at Casa Real de Iloilo or the old Iloilo provincial capitol on Bonifacio Drive.

The previous regional office building of DOT-6 would be demolished to give way to the P400-million redevelopment of the Iloilo Provincial Capitol Complex.

All DOT transactions, including the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA) travel tax collection, are now being entertained at the new DOT-6 office at the ground floor of Casa Real de Iloilo.

Director Helen Catalbas, however, said some DOT-6 staff would be left in the old office building to assist people who have no idea yet that the regional office already transferred to Casa Real de Iloilo.

After its temporary stay at Casa Real, DOT-6 would be moving to its permanent home – a building currently being occupied by the Philippine Red Cross on a lot owned by the provincial government adjacent to the Western Visayas Regional Museum.

The Philippine Red Cross would soon be moving out of the building and transfer to another provincial government-owned property near the Iloilo National High School   in La Paz district./PN
