DOUBLEDRAGON Corporation, led by chairman and Mang Inasal founder Edgar Injap Sia II, marked a Filipino moment as it broke ground the Hotel101-Niseko project in Hokkaido Japan.
Jollibee founder and DoubleDragon Corporation co-chair Tony Tan Caktiong also graced the occasion with Niseko Mayor Kenya Katayama and Kutchan Hokkaido Mayor Kazushi Monji on Saturday, Aug. 28.
Hotel101 is the first ever Filipino homegrown hotel chain to expand outside the Philippines.
The 482-room Niseko project, offering comfort, convenience and accessibility to all types of travelers, sits on a sprawling 1.17 hectare property of Hotel101 in Hokkaido Prefecture.
Niseko, Hokkaido is a world-class premier year-round destination.
It is famous worldwide for its powder snow and Kutchan Town where the property is located and is internationally renowned for consistently delivering good falls of light powder snow and a long ski season that stretches from November until May.
During the summer, Hokkaido stays cool with average temperatures of about 20 degrees Celsius and is also famous for its stunning nature scenes, hot springs, and panoramic flower fields during summer.
Hotel101-Niseko will be one of the largest value hotels in Niseko and is expected to be patronized by domestic and foreign tourists.
The extension of the Shinkansen bullet train to Niseko and Sapporo will further improve access to the region which is also reported to be in the running to host the 2030 Winter Olympics./PN
