ILOILO City – Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Iloilo City District Engineering Office assures that all roads will be prepared for this year’s Dinagyang Festival on Jan. 24 to 26, wherein a huge number of spectators, both foreign and local are expected to join and watch this annual massive cultural and religious celebration derived from the devotion to the Patron Senior  Sto. Niño.

District engineer Rodney Gustilo said that maintenance of city roads is being undertaken by the District to ensure safety and smooth flow of traffic.

“Maintenance of our city roads such as application of thermoplastic pavement markings, installation of informational and directional signage, repainting of road lane marking and gutters, declogging of drainages, and repainting of center islands are regularly undertaken by our office to ensure smooth flow of traffic especially during the weeklong celebration,” Gustilo said.

Our maintenance personnel are continuously deployed to ensure that vital roads in Iloilo City are in good condition and accessible to motorists, both local and foreign tourists and the general public,” he added.

In addition, Gustilo said that there is no on-going road project undertaken by the District within the city proper area, hence tourists are assured that roads are properly-marked, free from potholes and obstructions and are fully accessible to the safety and comfort of the motorists and pedestrians.

Gustilo also said that projects outside the city proper area that are scheduled for implementation or currently being implemented would not be suspended.

“We have no on-going projects within the city proper area that need to be suspended to pave way for the festival while projects implemented outside the city proper will go on since they will not be directly affected by the celebration,” Gustilo stressed. /PN
