ILOILO City – The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Region 6 hoped to present a complete detailed engineering design of the agency’s comprehensive drainage plan for the city before the end of this month.
But before the plan is presented to the public, DPWH 6 assistant regional director Al Fruto said, they would discuss it first with the newly created regional project management office.
“We have requested our consultant nga nag obra sang preliminary detailed engineering plan to come over,” said Fruto.
The ongoing P100-million new drainage project of the city government was made a reference of the comprehensive drainage plan.
“Ang ginaumpisahan nga project forms part of the plan. Waay kita nag-deviate kay ti nangin reference naton,”
The comprehensive drainage plan is extensive.
“We are talking of the creeks nga included and mga subsequent secondary and tertiary drains. Dapat interconnected sila,” said Fruto.
The plan aims to ensure that drainage projects in the city won’t be become a waste of resources.
“Para maklaro na gid…Indi nga basta lang kita obra drainage nga wala man gale lulutsan,” said Fruto.
All future developments in the city must be aligned with the comprehensive drainage plan, he stressed.
This will be DPWH’s “modest contribution” to the city’s efforts to address the perennial problem on flooding, said Fruto.
The plan’s cost estimate is some P3.7 billion, added Fruto./PN
