ILOILO City – The Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) warned those into drag races that they would be held criminally liable.

Among others, they would be charged with reckless driving, according to Police Colonel Adrian Acollador, IPPO director.

Illegal gambling charges may be filed, too, if there’s betting in the drag races, he added.

In the town of Leon, Iloilo two motorcycle riders raced against each other along the road in Barangay Bucari on March 12 and 21.

Barangay Bucari, a tourist destination, is about 20 kilometers from the town proper of Leon.

There were also reports of drag races in Barangay Buga, Leon, too.

From what the IPPO so far gathered, according to Acollador, the races involved betting.

The two riders have already been identified. They were residents of Barangay Cagay, Leon and Barangay Igtuble, Tubungan town.

Naga-warning kita sa mga motorcyclists. Indi mag-drag race kay delikado gid. Basi maaksidente sila nga tunaan sang ila kamatayon. Kag daku ang ila salabton once madakpan sila,” Acollador said./PN
