BACOLOD City – The construction of additional drainage infrastructure along Lacson Street will start this week, according to City District Engineer Abraham Villareal.
The construction will cover the area from corner Lacson-Rizal streets to the Mandalagan Bridge.
The new drainage system, once completed, is deemed to help convey water during heavy rains. It has a P55-million budget, Villareal said.
The construction was supposed to start last week. It was postponed due to the conduct of the 13th Bacolaodiat Festival.
Villareal said he already coordinated with the city government and the Bacolod Traffic Authority regarding the start of the drainage construction.
He added that the public must be informed about the project.
According to Villareal, they have prepared a traffic management schedule to minimize traffic congestion during the drainage construction.
Only one lane of Lacson Street will be closed. The other three will remain passable, Villareal stressed.
The drainage project is expected to be completed by October this year./PN
