ILOILO City — Police seized more than P1.4 million worth of suspected shabu and arrested four suspects in a series of anti-illegal drug operations across Western Visayas, with some of the biggest drug hauls recorded in Iloilo City, Pavia town in Iloilo province, and San Jose, Antique.
The intensified crackdown by the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) from May 27 to May 28 resulted in the confiscation of around 214 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated Standard Drug Price of P1,455,200.
Among the major operations was a buy-bust conducted by Iloilo City Police Station 2 in Zone 3, Barangay Lopez Jaena Norte, La Paz district, Iloilo City, where authorities arrested alias “Jingle,” 49, tagged as a High-Value Individual (HVI), and alias “Kim,” 31, identified as a Street-Level Individual (SLI).
Recovered from the two suspects were around 60 grams of suspected shabu valued at P408,000. Both suspects are now detained at Police Station 2.
Another operation in Barangay Ungka 1, Pavia, Iloilo led to the arrest of alias “Ry,” 39, also classified as an HVI and a resident of the area. Authorities recovered around 65 grams of suspected shabu worth P442,000 from his possession. He is currently under the custody of the Pavia Municipal Police Station.
In San Jose, Antique, police operatives arrested alias “Toto,” 47, a resident of Barangay Inabasan, San Jose, during another buy-bust operation in Barangay 1. Authorities seized approximately 65 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated value of P442,000.
PRO-6 director Brigadier General Randulf T. Tuaño commended the operating units for the successful anti-drug operations and reiterated the police force’s commitment to intensifying its campaign against illegal drugs in Western Visayas.
“These significant drug recoveries are the result of the relentless efforts of our personnel to address the drug menace in the region. Rest assured that PRO-6 will continue to conduct intensified anti-drug operations to help make Western Visayas a drug-free region,” Tuaño said.
He also appealed for continued public cooperation in the government’s anti-illegal drug campaign.
“We appeal to the public to continue supporting our efforts to keep the region safe and secure. The police force cannot do it alone,” he added.
All arrested suspects are facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./PN
