
KALIBO, Aklan – A drug suspect previously jailed and released via a plea bargaining agreement was arrested anew in a buy-bust operation here over the weekend, just days before the Ati-Atihan Festival.
The 46-year-old Pacifico “Pikoy” Villanueva, Jr., a resident of this town’s Barangay Poblacion, allegedly sold two heat-sealed transparent sachets containing suspected shabu for P10,000 on Saturday morning, January 11.
Operatives of Aklan Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit and Kalibo municipal police station carried out the buy-bust at around 11 a.m. in a pension house along Veterans Avenue in Barangay Poblacion in this town.
Villanueva also yielded two improvised tooter and a weighing scale during the body search.
Prior to this, police searched the room of Villanueva through a search warrant No. EJ-003-2025 dated January 9, 2025 and issued by Executive Judge Montalid Patnubay, Jr. of the Regional Trial Court in Kalibo.
The apprehending team recovered 25 heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets of shabu, a .45 caliber firearm, five ammunition, and a magazine.
The suspect was detained at Kalibo police station. He is facing charges for violations of Section 5 (sale, trading, distribution of dangerous drugs) and Section 12 (possession of equipment, instrument, apparatus and other paraphernalia for dangerous drugs), Article II (Unlawful acts and penalties) of Republic Act (RA) 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
He will also be charged for violation of RA 10591, or the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition./PN
