ANTIQUE — The Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office VI (DSWD-6) continues to roll out financial assistance to families affected by recent severe weather disturbances through its Emergency Cash Transfer (ECT) program.
The initiative aims to provide immediate financial support to those impacted, particularly in the aftermath of Typhoon “Tino.”
On March 20, DSWD-6 conducted a payout in San Jose, Antique, benefiting 1,920 individuals who were assessed and categorized based on the extent of damage they sustained during the typhoon.
Families classified as severely affected received P10,325, while those with partial or slight damage were given P5,369.
The financial assistance is intended to help beneficiaries address urgent needs such as food, shelter, and other basic necessities as they begin recovery.
The distribution was facilitated by trained personnel known as the “DSWD Angels in Red Vests,” who ensured that aid was delivered efficiently and directly to the rightful recipients.
To further strengthen the process, the agency also implemented the BBM Serbisyo program (“Basta Beripikado, Mabilis ang Serbisyo”), an online registration platform integrated with the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) to verify beneficiaries’ identities.
The use of digital verification aims to prevent duplication and fraud while expediting the delivery of assistance.
DSWD-6 said the continued provision of aid aligns with the directive of Secretary Rex Gatchalian and reflects the commitment of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. to support affected families in their recovery.
The agency assured that all cash transfers are conducted in accordance with Memorandum Circular No. 11, or the Revised Guidelines on the Conduct of Emergency Cash Transfers, to ensure transparency and accountability.
DSWD reiterated its commitment to providing timely and effective support as communities rebuild from the impact of Typhoon “Tino.”
