CAPIZ – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office VI has released a total of P12.59 million in social pension assistance to 4,197 indigent senior citizens in the municipality of Dumarao through a two-day payout activity.
The distribution forms part of the agency’s Social Pension Program for Indigent Senior Citizens, which provides financial assistance to elderly Filipinos who have no regular source of income and rely on government support for their basic needs.
During the payout, beneficiaries from 33 barangays in Dumarao each received P3,000, representing their first-quarter social pension for 2026. The cash assistance is intended to help cover essential expenses such as medicines, food, and other daily necessities.
The Municipal Local Government Unit (MLGU) of Dumarao assisted in facilitating the distribution. The Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO), led by Phoebe Gagula, coordinated the logistics of the payout.
The Municipal Treasurer’s Office, headed by Jose Jim Hombre, also helped ensure an orderly and efficient distribution process, allowing beneficiaries to receive their assistance without delays.
Dumarao Mayor Mateo C. Hachuela and Vice Mayor Gleah Rose Hachuela likewise expressed support for the initiative, emphasizing the importance of social protection programs for the municipality’s elderly residents.
Local officials said the program reflects the government’s continuing commitment to safeguarding the welfare of senior citizens, particularly those facing economic difficulties.
