AKLAN — The Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office VI (DSWD-6) has released cash assistance to 89 tourism workers affected by Tropical Cyclone (TC) “Tino” in the municipalities of Malay and Kalibo, Aklan.
The aid was distributed under the Emergency Cash Transfer (ECT) program and implemented through the agency’s Disaster Response Management Division (DRMD). Each beneficiary who underwent assessment and was validated as affected by the cyclone received P10,325.
DSWD-6 ensured the orderly and transparent distribution of assistance with the support of its “Angels in Red Vests,” who facilitated the activity and monitored compliance with established procedures.
Alongside the cash distribution, beneficiaries were also registered through the BBM Serbisyo online system, a digital platform that uses the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) ID for beneficiary verification. The system aims to strengthen safeguards against fraud and ensure accurate targeting of assistance.
The agency said the program was carried out in line with the directive of DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian and the social protection policies of the administration of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
DSWD-6 emphasized that the cash assistance distribution strictly followed Memorandum Circular No. 24, series of 2025, which provides guidelines to ensure the clear, transparent, and accountable implementation of the Emergency Cash Transfer program./PN
