CAPIZ – The Department of Social Welfare and Development Region 6 (DSWD-6) distributed over 3,500 family food packs (FFPs) to partner-beneficiaries in this province on June 18 and 20, under its Food-for-Work (FFW) Program aimed at supporting local communities.
Here is the breakdown of the food pack distribution per municipality:
* President Roxas (249 beneficiaries) – 498 food packs;
* Pilar (150 beneficiaries) – 300 food packs;
* Cuartero (400 beneficiaries) – 800 food packs;
* Dumalag (300 beneficiaries) – 300 food packs;
* Mambusao – 696 food packs; and
* Dao (500 beneficiaries) – 1,000 food packs.
These food packs serve as incentive payments for partner-beneficiaries actively engaged in various community-based initiatives. These include the establishment of vegetable gardens, mangrove planting, and participation in other environmentally sustainable projects designed to enhance local food security and promote community welfare.
The project was spearheaded by the Early Recovery and Rehabilitation (ERR) team of DSWD-6 in close coordination with the respective municipal social welfare and development offices (MSWDOs).
This initiative replicates the successful implementation of the Project Local Adaptation to Water Access (LAWA) and Breaking Insufficiency through Nutritious Harvest for the Impoverished (BINHI), which both focus on developing community gardens and improving existing vegetable-growing sites. These efforts aim to boost local food production, improve nutrition, and build community resilience against food insecurity and climate change.
