DTI-Iloilo to hold back-to-school sale

ILOILO City – The month of June signals the starts of classes and students as well as parents are preparing for the back-to-school season as early as now.

In line with the scheduled opening of classes on June 2, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) – Iloilo Provincial Office will be holding a back-to-school sale dubbed as the “Diskwento Fair: Balik Eskwela Edition 2014” today up to May 16 at the Iloilo Capitol Grounds.

In a press release, DTI-Iloilo disclosed that over 10 retailers are expected to participate in the two-day back-to-school sale. The said retailers will offer various products from school uniforms, to school shoes and bags, umbrellas and raincoats.

Other items such as ready-to-wear garments, processed meat, canned fish, soy sauce, detergent and dishwashing soap, fabric conditioner and certified products such as electrical wirings and devices, CFLs and LED lights will be also available.

Some of the products to be displayed at the Diskwento Fair will be offered with five percent to 50 percent discounts.

DTI-6 Officer-in-Charge and current Iloilo Provincial Director Wilhelm Malones said that the “Diskwento Fair: Balik Eskwela Edition 2014” is being conducted by the DTI-Iloilo to help the consumers carry the burden due to rising prices of basic and prime commodities.

Malones is also inviting the consumers to avail of the products featured on the said sale as it will be a way for them to have big savings.

Meanwhile, aside from the aforementioned products, locally manufactured or homegrown products of the micro, small and medium entrepreneurs which include ginger brew, homemade peanut butter and dried fish will be also sold at the fair.

The Diskwento Caravan was launched by DTI in 2008 to benefit the minimum wage earners and employees./PN
