ROXAS City – The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Provincial Office is regularly monitoring business establishments selling essential products provincewide amid the threat of the coronavirus disease.
The declarations require the immediate implementation of an Automatic Price Control (APC) which shall remain effective based on the provisions of the Republic Act 7581 or The Price Act.
“We are utilizing the Negosyo Centers staff in the municipalities to carry out the monitoring activities,” said DTI Capiz public information officer Marjorie Tendras, adding that the government is calling on every Filipino to cooperate and observe the law as a contribution while the country is struggling against the pandemic.
She added that the DTI Consumer Protection Unit and the agency’s monitoring officers are conducting the monitoring and compliance to APC in the city.
“Towards the end of March, personnel from Department of Health, National Bureau of Investigation and Philippine National Police will be joining the team in the citywide monitoring,” she stressed.
Business establishments that are selling basic necessities shall adhere to the APC, otherwise they shall face administrative and criminal charges once found violating the price freeze.
DTI also urges consumers not to resort in panic-buying and hoarding as there is sufficient food supply. (with a report from PIA-Capiz/PN)
