SAN JOSE, Antique β The Department of Trade and Industry monitors the prices, supply of basic goods here in compliance with Presidential Proclamation 1143, which declares a State of Calamity throughout the Philippines due to the African swine fever (ASF) outbreak.
According to DTI-Antique information officer Lynna Joy Cardinal, the Automatic Price Ceiling (APC) will be imposed in the entire province following the nationwide price freeze.
The imposition of APC is mandated under Republic Act 7581, otherwise known as the Price Act of the Philippines, wherein prices of basic necessities are frozen at their prevailing prices for 60 days.
In Antique, Cardinal said the price freeze started on April 25 after the publication of the APC.
Basic necessities under price freeze include canned sardines, processed milk, coffee, loaf bread, instant noodles, salt, laundry soap, bottled water, and candles.
So far, the supply of basic necessities in the province is stable and the prices are with Suggested Retail Price, according to Cardinal.(PIA)
