MANILA – President Rodrigo Duterte is “feeling much better” already, a day after he consulted a neurologist due to the “unbearable pain” in his back after a motorcycle accident last week.
Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo said on Thursday that President Duterte was advised by his neurologist to take a rest and drink pain medications after being diagnosed with muscle spasms.
“The Chief Executive has been advised by his doctor to rest for a couple of days and limit his physical activity, particularly avoiding standing or walking for long duration. The President is presently feeling much better,” Panelo said.
Panelo assured the public there was nothing to worry about the President’s health and his current medical condition does not require any medical operations.
“Despite the limited physical activity that he has to impose on himself, the President will meet Chinese Vice Premier Hu Chunhua (on Thursday) to discuss, among others, certain infrastructure projects in the country which are financed by China,” he said.
“Despite the President’s somewhat impaired physical profile, he will continue to perform his presidential duties which include attending to local and foreign engagements in the following days, with the same passion and dedication, in obedience to the constitutional command to serve and protect the Filipino people,” he added.
Duterte complained of pain in his hips after falling from a motorcycle ride inside the grounds of Malacañang Palace last week but insisted that he will continue riding./PN
