MANILA – President Rodrigo Duterte welcomed the New Year by encouraging everyone to participate in the implementation of the administration’s policies and programs.
“As this administration enters its fourth year, I am hopeful that all our policies and programs for the improved welfare of our citizens and the continued progress of the Philippines will be realized with the active participation of everyone,” Duterte said in his New Year’s Day message, invoking God’s guidance and grace as he also called for the active participation of Filipinos to express confidence that a better was in store for the country.
The Chief Executive also said that the New Year was a time to reflect on lessons learned as it is an opportune time to do better and aim higher.
“With the guidance and grace of the Almighty and the enduring spirit of bayanihan and malasakit, I am confident that we will achieve a stronger and brighter future for our people,” Duterte added.
Vice President Leni Robredo, in a separate New Year’s Day message, urged Filipinos to welcome 2020 with hope as she vows to continue improving Filipinos’ lives in the coming years.
“Salubungin sana natin ang bagong taon nang may pag-asa sa ating mga mata, galak sa ating mga puso at ngiti sa ating mga labi,” Robredo said. “Sa kabila ng lahat ng ating pinagdaanan at pagdadaanan pa, ay napakaraming bagay na dapat din nating ipagpasalamat.”
“Sa gitna ng lahat ng ingay sa ating panahon, nananatiling malinaw ang pangarap natin para sa ating bayan: isang mas maginhawa at mas magandang buhay para sa bawat pamilyang Pilipino,” she added./PN
