MANILA — Terrafirma Dyip reignited its fading playoff campaign after snapping a six-game losing streak with a dominant 102–84 rout of Macau Black Knights in the PBA Season 50 Commissioner’s Cup on Saturday night at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
Jerrick Ahanmisi delivered a breakout performance with 29 points, eight assists, two steals, and a rebound to steer the Dyip to a crucial victory that lifted their record to 4–6 and kept their quarterfinal hopes alive.
Mubashar Ali imposed his presence inside with a commanding double-double of 24 points and 16 rebounds, while Geo Chiu added a career-high 12 points and 11 boards. JM Bravo chipped in 12 markers as Terrafirma finally broke out of its slump with a balanced offensive attack.
The game turned decisively in the fourth quarter when Macau, trailing by just one point, 78–77, made a puzzling move by benching key shooters Phoenix Shackelford and Jenning Leung for the entire period.
Terrafirma quickly took advantage, unleashing a decisive run to blow the game wide open. The Dyip built an 18-point cushion behind a mix of interior dominance and outside shooting from Jerrick and Maverick Ahanmisi, along with Ali.
Ramon Cao paced the Black Knights with 27 points, including three four-pointers, while Tony Mitchell Jr. added 22. Shackelford and Leung finished with 13 and 10 points, respectively, as Macau slipped to 2–9.
Adding to Macau’s troubles, Damian Chongqui had eight points and seven rebounds but reportedly left the arena before the end of the second quarter.
In the other game, Deschon Winston haunted his former team as he powered NLEX Road Warriors to a convincing 100–81 victory over Converge FiberXers.
Winston finished with 21 points, five assists, four rebounds, and two assists to earn Player of the Game honors, leading NLEX to solo first place with a 9–2 record.
Cady Lalanne anchored the Road Warriors with a double-double of 22 points and 14 rebounds, while Robert Bolick Jr. and Anthony Semerad contributed 21 and 11 points, respectively.
Justin Arana led Converge with 21 points, while Archie Concepcion added 10 markers as the FiberXers dropped to 4–7./PN
