Education program goes on despite pandemic

ROXAS City – The city council passed an ordinance granting scholarship to qualified residents of the city who are Grade 12 or Alternative Learning System (ALS) Program graduates.

“Subong nga pandemya halos tanan nagaantos. Apang ang  edukasyon sang mga maalam kag nagabakas nga kabataan indi dapat pagpabay-an,” said Mayor Ronnie Dadivas.

In the “Upod Kita Scholarshop Program” (City Ordinance 085-2019), applicants must have the following eligibility:

* must be a bona fide resident and registered voter of Roxas City

* have completed Grade 12 or graduated from any secondary school or from the Alternative Learning System (ALS) program within Region 6

* general weight average of at least 85% or above
* combined gross monthly income of parents/guardian not to exceed P30,000 (In highly exceptional cases where income exceeds P30,000/month, the Scholarship Committee shall determine the merits of the application.)
* avail of only one government-funded financial assistance program
“Ini nga pandemya indi dapat mangin upang sa paglab-ot sang  sang handum nga makaangkon sang dekalidad nga edukasyon kag makatapos sa pagtuon,” said Dadivas.

The scholarship ordinance was authored by Councilor Paul Baticados, chairman of the Committee on Education./PN
