BACOLOD City – Sen. Joseph Victor “JV” Ejercito vowed to provide funds for the rehabilitation of the public market and the public plaza in Silay City, Negros Occidental.
The senator was in Silay City on Friday to attend the inauguration of the newly renovated Silay City Public Wet Market.
Ejercito facilitated the P5-million budget for the renovation of the wet market, according to Mayor Mark Golez.
Golez said he asked Ejercito for an additional P8 million for further rehabilitation on the other side of the market.
He also asked P11 million for the renovation of the plaza.
Ejercito responded positively, telling Golez to furnish the proposed projects’ plans so that he can start finding allocation for them.
He added that major infrastructure projects of the government must be fast-tracked to cushion the impact of the high inflation rate in the country.
“We have to expedite. Big construction projects will produce job opportunities that will stimulate economic growth,” Ejercito stressed./PN
