AS ELLEN Adarna opened up about her co-parenting setup with John Lloyd Cruz, she reiterated that the actor is a good provider while also clarifying that she is not included in his financial responsibilities.

The actress spoke about this during her “Kuan on One” interview with host Melai Cantiveros, where they talked about coparenting with an ex-partner.

Depende ‘yan sa partner [ko],” Adarna said in Cebuano, noting that she only reciprocates how her partner treats her.

Expounding on her answer, she cited her romantic relationship with Cruz before.

“Even with JL before, nung naghiwalay kami, magulo rin ‘yon for a time pero ngayon okay na kami. Matagal na kaming okay, bago pa ako kinasal,” she said, referring to her wedding with her now-estranged husband Derek Ramsay.

May challenges talaga ang co-parenting,” she admitted. “Nakakainis minsan kasi may gusto siyang gawin pero ikaw, iba naman ang gusto mo.”

Despite this, Adarna said she and Cruz always strive not to let such matters lead to a fight.

Speaking about finances, the celebrity mom also reiterated that the financial support she receives from Cruz is solely for Elias’ needs.

Hindi niya ako obligation,” she stressed. “Hindi naman kami kasal ni JL. Wala siyang pakialam sa akin.”

She then underscored how she and Cruz are blessed because Elias is such a good kid. Adarna further noted that she rarely scolds her son.

Makakasabi na lang kami ni John Lloyd na, ‘Anong ginawa natin at bakit sobrang bait niya?’” Adarna said.

Hindi matigas ang ulo ni Elias. Hindi nagmana sa akin,” she added.

Adarna and Cruz have been frequently seen on trips with their son as well as the actor’s girlfriend, artist Isabel Santos. Adarna even built a friendship with Santos whom she described as the “best stepmom.”

Adarna’s interview with Cantiveros was released just days after Santos shared cryptic posts on her Instagram Story seemingly referencing her hurt feelings while in a six-year relationship with Cruz. She has since deactivated her Instagram. (Anne Pasajol © Philippine Daily Inquirer)
