BACOLOD City – Citing the worsening traffic situation, the City Enforcement Team (CET) of the City Legal Office (CLO) urged the Bacolod Traffic Authority Office (BTAO) to strictly enforce the traffic city ordinance (CO).
CO 338 prohibits public utility vehicles from parking in illegal terminals, and private vehicles, motorcycles and tricycles from using streets and sidewalks as parking areas.
To help alleviate traffic problems, the CET even does road clearing and demolition of illegal structures, according to CET head Rey Demisana.
On Nov. 28, the CET demolished illegal structures obstructing the North Capitol Road in Pala-Pala area but the following day Demisana received reports that illegally parked vehicles were creating another problem.
“Ginkadtu-an sang enforcement team kay ang BTAO enforcers indi kasaway,” said Demisana.
CLO and BTAO should work jointly, he stressed.
“I do not know nga ang mga BTAO personnel naton indi ka-implement nga nalimpyo na ang structures. Mangayo ko assistance nila kay indi ko kaagwanta. Daku man ang scope nila. They are authorized to issue citation tickets to traffic violators,” Demisana lamented
Meanwhile, Councilor Al Victor Espino, chairperson of the city council’s committee on transportation, said the BTAO is the enforcement arm of the city government, thus it should be strict in enforcing traffic rules and regulations.
