ILOILO City – A retired Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) member faces charges for illegally possessing unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
The house of Regino Ligaray, 59, was raided in Sitio Dalusan, Barangay Quinar-upan, Bingawan on Friday morning.
Recovered were one short 12-gauge shotgun, one .38 revolver with two rounds of ammunition, one .45 pistol, a long 12-gauge homemade shotgun, two magazines of .45, five rounds of 12-gauge ammunition, 76 rounds of .45 ammunition, two rounds of .38 revolver ammunition, 16 rounds of M14 ammunition, 44 rounds of M16 ammunition, 36 empty shells and six magazines of M16, one empty shell of .45, one magazine of M14, two holsters and one magazine pouch of caliber .45.
The Bingawan Municipal Police Station (MPS) implemented the search warrant issued by Judge Gemalyn Faunillo-Tarol of Regional Trial Court-Branch 76 in Janiuay.
Captain Ryan Christ Inot, chief of Bingawan MPS, said the suspect was not around during the raid.
“The suspect will still face illegal possession of unlicensed firearms kahit hindi natin na huli,” Inot said.
The police received reports from residents that the suspect allegedly often fired his guns.
He also figured in a shooting incident in 2015 against another soldier in their place.
“We have to hunt him when an arrest warrant is released against him,” Inot said./PN
