ILOILO City – A former barangay kagawad (village councilman) of Bakhaw in Mandurriao district was arrested in a buy-bust operation yesterday.

Norberto Prevendido, 61, was taken to the Mandurriao police station after selling to an undercover police officer around noon a sachet of suspected shabu for P4,000.

Another sachet of suspected shabu valued at P80,000 was recovered from the Prevendido, elder brother of slain drug lord Richard Prevendido.

The buy-bust was carried out by the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU).

The suspect, classified a high-value target, was also a brother of the late Bakhaw barangay captain Remia Prevendido Gregori, herself a high-value drug target, according to Superintendent Rogen Morales of the CDEU.

Armed men shot Gregori to death in June 24, 2018 in San Joaquin, Iloilo, nine months after brother Richard was killed in a shootout with policemen in Barangay Balabago, Jaro district on Sept. 1, 2017.

According to Morales, Prevendido got his stocks from Manila and Cebu City.

The former barangay councilman, however, denied owning the sachets that the cops supposedly confiscated from him.

Prevendido faces a charge for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./PN
