ILOILO City – An ex-convict and his nephew were arrested in a buy-bust operation at a motel in Barangay Burgos, La Paz district.
Thirty-seven-year-old Melvin Gonzales, once jailed for drug trafficking, and nephew Andy, 21, were caught selling a sachet of suspected shabu to an undercover cop for P1,000.
Five more sachets were recovered from them around 8:50 p.m. on June 14.
Police said Melvin was convicted in 2020. He was tagged a “high value” target.
His nephew, meanwhile, was a newly-identified drug pushing suspect, police said, and he lsed to be his uncle’s “drug runner”.
The men were taken to the La Paz police station. They would be charged with violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./PN
