ILOILO City – A former member of the Philippine National Police was arrested in Barangay Nagsulang, Lemery, Iloilo for keeping an unlicensed firearm.
The house of retired Senior Police Officer 2 Arturo Lozano, 59, was raided on Sunday around 4 p.m.
Operatives of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office and Lemery police station found a .38 revolver with 11 ammunitions.
The gun was unlicensed, according to Inspector Greg Anthony Sabang, Lemery police chief.
Lozano, formerly assigned in Bukidnon province, was taken to the municipal police station.
Sabang said they secured a search warrant from the court against Lozano after scared neighbors complained against the retired policeman for alleged illegal discharge of firearm.
He also said a helper of the suspect figured in a shooting incident recently.
“We received information that the suspect had an unlicensed gun in the house. During the search, he failed to present pertinent documents on his gun,” Sabang said.
Lozano faces charge for violation of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act./PN
