ILOILO City – A former tanod was arrested in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Burgos Mabini, La Paz district at around 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 15.
Suspect Melvin Tipawan, 31, a tricycle driver, was a resident of Zone 4, Barangay Nabitasan, La Paz.
A police poseur buyer bought from the suspect a plastic sachet of suspected shabu for P3,000.
Elements of the La Paz Police Station and the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) further recovered six sachets of suspected shabu weighing three grams valued at P20,400.
According to Punong Barangay Barbara Arosa, he received a tip about Tipawan in December last year, the latter denied the allegation.
The suspect is facing a charge for violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./PN
