ILOILO City – A former barangay tanod (village watchman) was found dead with gunshot wounds on the head and body in his house in Barangay 9, Tigbauan, Iloilo yesterday.

Erwin Tantiado was 49 years old.

Brother and village councilman Ervin, 39, discovered his elder brother’s body in the kitchen at around 7:20 a.m.

Erwin sustained four gunshot wounds on the shoulder, head and chest.

According to Police Captain Hermogenes Eulatic, Tigbauan police chief, the shooting likely happened on Monday night, citing a footage from a nearby security camera.

At around 8:34 p.m. on Monday a motorcycle stopped outside Erwin’s house, one man got down from the motorcycle then entered the house, the footage showed.

After a minute, said Eulatic, the man came out of the house, boarded his companion’s motorcycle then left the area.

That Monday night, Erwin was alone in his house; his son and mother were at his brother’s house, said Eulatic.

“Last week he was drunk and went wild. This prompted his mother and son to leave the house temporarily,” he revealed.

Erwin was not a drug suspect, added said Eulatic.

As of this writing, no suspect had been named.

“We are urging neighbors to share any information they have about the shooting,” said Eulatic./PN
