ILOILO City – With cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in this city declining, the prospect of holding the famed Dinagyang Festival “face-to-face” once again next year is tantalizing.
“Kabay pa,” Mayor Jerry Treñas said, albeit noting the slim possibility.
“Kon Enero (2022) indi pa gid ‘ko segurado because indi pa tanan bakunado (against COVID),” he explained.
Treñas, however, expressed confidence that in 2023, Dinagyang would not be celebrated virtually anymore.
This year, the revelry was held through a virtual presentation.
CURFEW LIFTED
Curfew has been lifted effective 12 a.m. today (Nov. 5), based on Treñas’ Executive Order No. 132-A.
The city mayor also ordered that the road, maritime and aviation sectors of public transportation will already be allowed to operate at such capacity and protocols in accordance with the guidance issued by the Department of Transportation.
The use of active transportation such as bicycles is encouraged.
Meanwhile, public utility vehicles such as jeepneys and other motor vehicles can fully operate at 100 operational capacity, subject to a maximum passenger capacity of 70 percent in accordance with the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board’s Memorandum Circular No. 20211-064.
Moreover, physical barriers are no longer required.
However, passengers are strongly encouraged to maintain adequate social distancing (one seat apart) and strict observance of other health protocols
“Waay pa naga-abre ang mga karaoke bars. Waay pa face-to-face cockfighting. Consumption of alcoholic drinks in public is still not allowed,” added Treñas./PN
