BACOLOD City — A 51-year-old farmer was killed after he was allegedly stabbed by another farmer during a birthday celebration in Sitio Cabagal, Barangay Buenavista, Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental on the evening of August 5.
The victim, identified only by the alias “Nene,” was declared dead on arrival at a hospital after sustaining a stab wound to the chest.
The suspect, identified by the alias “Boyboy,” also a farmer and resident of the same area, fled after the incident and remained at large as of press time.
According to the Himamaylan City Police Station, the victim and suspect were among several neighbors attending a birthday party when the stabbing occurred at around 9 p.m.
Initial police investigation showed that the victim allegedly reprimanded the suspect and told him to wear a shirt out of respect for the other guests at the celebration.
Police said the suspect apparently took offense at the remark, approached the victim, drew a bladed weapon tucked at his waist, and stabbed him once in the chest.
The victim was immediately rushed to a hospital but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.
Police have launched a pursuit operation to locate and arrest the suspect, who may face a complaint for murder or homicide, depending on the findings of the investigation.(WDJ)/PN
