Farmer nabbed with firearms, grenade

CAPIZ – A farmer was arrested in Sitio Magalan, Barangay Sagrada Familia, Dumarao town in this province for illegal possession of firearms and explosive.

Police identified the suspect as alias “Sammy”, 49 years old.

Seized from the suspect were 12-gauge homemade shotgun (break type), KG9 rifle, three magazines, 53 rounds of ammunition of various firearms, and grenade.

Joint operatives of the 2nd Capiz Provincial Mobile Force Company (CPMFC), Dumarao Municipal Police Station (MPS), Capiz Police Intervention Unit, and Provincial Explosive Ordnance Disposal and Canine Unit swooped down on the house of the suspect on May 4 through the strength of a search warrant issued by Judge Lorencito B. Diaz of the Regional Trial Court, 6th Judicial Region – Branch 17 in Roxas City dated May 2, 2025.

The suspect was detained at the Dumarao MPS. He is facing charges for violation of Republic Act (RA) 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act) and RA 9516 (Illegal Possession of Explosives).
