ILOILO — A 38-year-old farmer was arrested in a buy-bust operation on Friday evening, February 27, in Barangay San Antonio, Ajuy, Iloilo, where authorities seized an estimated P2.5 million worth of suspected shabu.
The suspect, identified only by the alias “Mon,” a resident of the said barangay, was apprehended at around 7:15 p.m. after allegedly selling P3,600 worth of suspected shabu to a police poseur-buyer.
Operatives recovered approximately 362 grams of suspected shabu with a standard drug price value of P2.5 million.
According to Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) director Police Colonel Bayani Razalan, the arrest was the result of nearly a month of surveillance and monitoring.
Razalan said the suspect’s alleged drug supply came from Iloilo City and that he was operating in northern Iloilo.
The IPPO chief commended the personnel of the Ajuy Municipal Police Station for the successful operation and reiterated the police force’s intensified campaign against illegal drugs.
The suspect is currently detained at the Ajuy Municipal Police Station and will face charges for violation of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./PN
