Fatal shooting, hacking at Tapaz wedding party

ROXAS City – Two men were killed after firing at each other while in a wedding reception in Barangay Rizal Sur, Tapaz, Capiz.

They were Romulo Florentino of Barangay Agloloway, Jamindan, Capiz and Barangay Rizal Sur resident Jerry Gardose, police said.

Tapaz municipal police chief Senior Inspector Edwin Luces said a heated argument prompted Florentino and Gardose – both drunk that time – to shoot each other.

It was Gardose who drew his gun first, Luces added.

Gardose’s relatives, who were also at the reception, tackled Florentino and hacked him to death, added the police.

Florentino’s body bore 22 hack wounds, results of the autopsy showed.

Gardose and Florentino were both rushed to the Tapaz District Hospital where the attending physicians pronounced them “dead on arrival.”

Barangay Rizal Sur councilman Alejandro Tupaz was also hurt for trying to pacify to Gardose and Florentino.
