ILOILO City – A high-value value suspect and his father were arrested in an anti-drug operation around 2:22 p.m. on May 21 in Barangay Pasig, Sara, Iloilo.
Police seized 160 grams of suspected shabu approximately worth P1 million from suspects identified as aliases “Panoy,” 34, and Dan, 63, both residents of the aforementioned place.
They are currently detained at the custodial facility of Sara Municipal Police Station, facing charges for violation of Republic Act (RA) 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).
Sara police said Panoy will also be charged with violation of RA 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act) in relation to Comelec Resolution 11067 (Comelec gun ban) after he yielded an unlicensed caliber .22 revolver with ammunition.
According to Police Colonel Roland Bulalacao, officer-in-charge director of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO), the younger suspect was previously arrested for illegal drug case but was released from jail sometime in 2023 through parole and probation.
The suspects, he said, got their supply of illegal drugs from Metro Manila.
“They sold their drugs in Sara and neighboring towns. Before the operation was conducted, our men conducted a test buy to know if he [Panoy] really engaged in drug trade,” Bulalacao added./PN
