ILOILO City – Yesterday’s fire gutted a commercial establishment in Barangay San Rafael, Mandurriao district, leaving an estimated P1.6 million in damages.
Senior Fire Officer 1 Jake Ronald Solis, arson investigator of the Iloilo City Fire Station, said the blaze started around 11:30 a.m. and reached second alarm status.
“Fire under control” was declared at 12:45 p.m. and “fire out” at 2:18 p.m.
According to the initial investigation, three employees of Ashton Homes Modern Lightings and three clients were in the establishment when the smoke was discovered.
No one was injured, Solis said.
“Manug panyaga na mga upod ko amo to pag-fluctuate sang electricity. Ti ginpatay na namon suga kag gin-off ang main switch. After off sang main switch naggwa ang aso kag gulpi lang gid nagdaku. Una namon ginpagwa ang client para sa safety nila,” Paul Constantino, one of the employees, told Panay News.
