Fearless forecast

MY FEARLESS forecast – Jonathan Cabrera will be the next vice governor of the province of Aklan.

And why not? For starters, he’s a suave, debonair and good-looking young man (at least he looks young) that bears an uncanny resemblance to Jason Stratham; it must be their penchant for the bald head.

In terms of qualification and expertise in public service, “JonCab”, as friends fondly call him, is par excellence bar none. Just recently he was recognized as one of the “Finest Dozen” Western Visayas’ personalities for 2022 in an awards ceremony held at SM City-Iloilo. Take note: he is the only awardee from Aklan.

The organizer, “Keep on Talking by Boy Jorge”, honored Cabrera for founding Aklan’s first multimedia company, Todo Media Services. JonCab is famously known as a “mediaman, publicist, and strategist rolled into one”. He is the complete package so to speak.

For Jonathan Cabrera, being a public servant is nothing new as he already served as a Sangguniang Bayan (SB) member of the Municipality of Malay (he was elected in 2010) and is credited with having crafted an ordinance providing for a wastewater management system in Boracay.

As a mediaman, JonCab started with Bombo Radyo (Iloilo City) as a reporter in 1997. The following year, the network sent him to their Kalibo, Aklan station as a news writer; he eventually worked his way to be the assistant station manager of Bombo Radyo-Kalibo.

JonCab also had stints with regional GMA-TV as its Aklan-based reporter for the then famous “Ratsada” news program; he’s had 25 years in the media profession under his belt.

Being the consummate public relations man, he is currently the spokesman and media relations consultant of MORE Electric and Power Corporation, responsible for conceptualizing and implementing strategies to keep the company closer to its customers through the mainstream and social media.

By the way, I prefer calling him Jonathan than JonCab. If you’re familiar with the “John Wick” films you’ll know why.

And that folks, in a nutshell, is Jonathan Cabrera, the upcoming vice governor of Aklan.

Meanwhile we segue to the other stuff:

The overseas vote has started and is well on its way by time this column comes out. Take note that whoever wins the overseas vote will most probably be the next president and vice president of the Philippines.

And still on the presidential elections which is less than a month away…

I just saw on social media a post by the Central Philippine University Board of Trustees signed by all 19 members that they’re supporting the candidacy of Leni Robredo for president. Good to know that Leni has 19 more confirmed voters (assuming they’re all registered voters), also assuming they’re real people, not pink balloons.

San Fernando, Pampanga has on record 150,000 registered voters but the “devotees to the cult of the yellow ribbon” now dyed pink claimed that 220,000 attended the concert/rally held there, where Leni Robredo and some politicians made cameo appearances. Now you know what “pink balloons”,” large pink paper flowers” and “pink umbrellas” are.

Since it’s quite obvious that nobody in their right mind will swallow hook, line and sinker these bloated and exaggerated attendance in these concerts/rallies, why not just say a million or perhaps 10 million attended since what they’re actually doing is just massaging their bruised egos, a self-gratification thing. You know, doing what Jim Paredes does pleasuring himself.

And speaking of that rally, something happened there, a sort of comic relief to an already hilarious event. But I guess he just can’t help himself. He just has to do his thing. You know, that atrocious and ridiculous attempts at “dancing”.

It is the epitome of stupidity comparing a certain Gab Valenciano with Andrew E. Firstly, Andrew E is a certified recording superstar who sold millions of his original music. He’s a pioneering artist who brought the rap music genre to the consciousness of the Filipino masa. Mention Humanap Ka ng Pangit and immediately he comes to mind. Meanwhile this Gab Valenciano is a has-been who never was. No accomplishments to his name except riding on the fame of his father, ‘80s pop star Gary Valenciano.

It’s official. His own mother, a certain Angeli Pangilinan (must be related to Mr. Sharon Cuneta) confirmed that indeed this Gab Valenciano is or was a looney bin – so that explains the “dance moves” – and also tells people not to take his statements seriously since they’re coming from someone who is or was not of sound mind. So there./PN
