ILOILO City – Thousands of pesos worth of gadgets and cash and identification cards were among the items a 48-year-old man lost after a Ceres bus left him at the Mohon Terminal in Arevalo district.
But Althem Marie Balogo of Barangay Poblacion Ilaya, Passi City would not have lost these if one of his fellow bus passengers did not take them, a police report showed.
Among the items he lost were a Dell laptop computer worth some P47,000, a backpack worth P3,000, a black Guess wallet with P17,800 cash inside, three cellphone chargers and earphones, two flashlights, and a hat.
Balogo also lost IDs and passbooks for Armed Forces and Police Savings & Loan Association, Inc. and Public Safety Savings and Loan Association, Inc., a policy contract with Government Service Insurance System, and a flash drive containing personal and office files, the police report stated.
According to Balogo, the bus he rode from San Jose, Antique stopped over at the Mohon Terminal at around 12:25 p.m. on April 20.
Balogo told the driver that he would use the toilet but while he was inside the comfort room, the bus left. His belongings were still on board. He tried to chase the bus but to no avail.
He rode a taxi to the Ceres terminal in Barangay San Pedro, Molo, and there he discovered that his belongings were no longer in the bus.
Footage from the security camera installed inside the bus showed that another passenger took Balogo’s belongings and disembarked before the vehicle reached the Molo terminal, stated the police report.
That passenger remains unidentified as of this writing./PN
