ILOILO City – Dinagyang Festival not only highlights the cultural and religious traditions of the Ilonggos. It likewise provides tourism and economic opportunities to micro, small and medium entrepreneurs to showcase their products to revelers and tourists coming here to witness the celebration.
“Souvenir items, kiosks and food stalls are everywhere because of the Dinagyang Festival,” said Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Iloilo provincial director Diosdado P. Cadena.
Economic investments are visible in all nooks of this city, he said.
Visitors and revelers generate income for local establishments and suppliers particularly in the transportation services, food, hotels and restaurants.
“A lot of people are coming here,” Cadena said of this city’s biggest tourism event.
Moreover, economic activities here have multiplier effect as local suppliers benefit a lot from the annual event, he added./PN
