MANILA – The Philippine Women’s National Football Team opened its title defense in the 2025 ASEAN MSIG Serenity Cup with a commanding 7–0 victory over Timor-Leste on Thursday night at the Việt Trì Stadium in Vietnam.
Quinley Quezada and Inday Tolentin scored two goals each to anchor the assault of the Filipinas, which surged to the top of Group B with three points and a +7 goal difference.
Rookie Aaliyah Schinaman opened the scoring in the second minute, setting the tone early for the defending champions. Quezada and Hali Long scored back-to-back hits to make it a 3-0 count inside the first 10 minutes.
Quezada completed her brace in the 32nd minute to give the national women’s football team a 4–0 advantage at halftime.
Tolentin extended the lead in the second half with a tight-angle finish in the 57th minute, before calmly slotting in her second goal in the 64th. Adelaide Wyrzynski capped the scoring in the 75th minute.
The seven-goal.victory marked the Filipinas’ most decisive international result since a 16–0 rout of Tonga in 2022.
Myanmar trails the Philippines in Group B with three points and a +1 goal difference after a 2–1 win over Australia U-23 earlier in the day.
The Philippines returns to action on Sunday against Australia U-23 at 8:30 p.m. (Philippine time) at the same venue./PN
