Finally, there’s more to our life

INDEED, we can expect more good things to come to the lives of the natives of “I Am Iloilo City” with MORE Electric and Power Corporation or MORE Power at the helm as the city’s power provider.

Our title is just a personalized offshoot of MORE Power’s tagline, “Bringing MORE to Life” which represents the company’s goal to not just deliver the basics of electric services to you but to contribute a more meaningful input into your lives in terms of service reliability and savings.

Let’s not talk about the more than P3-billion investment already in place nor the lowest electricity rate in the country as those things are already public knowledge. Rather let’s talk about the commitment to excellent service.

And we start with MORE Power’s commitment for Reliable Electric Service Delivery which is to provide reliable, safe, and quality electric services by investing in the upgrading of the existing electric framework of Iloilo City and maintain an effective distribution maintenance plan to eliminate or minimize interruptions and outages.

Another commitment which is already in place and very much the norm is Excellent Customer Service as the company aims to create a meaningful customer experience with the consumers through the delivery of excellent customer service.

Then there’s the Customer Friendly Application Process and Requirements, a fulfillment of the company’s mission to deliver our electric services in a friendly, non-discriminatory and helpful way.

But wait there’s more (pun intended). Excerpts from the July 19, 2022 issue of Panay News:

MORE Electric and Power Corporation has successfully neutralized massive power pilferage in this city in two years since it launched on July 2020 Oplan Valeria, an all-out war against illegal connections.
According to Engr. Edwin Montemayor, head of the System Loss Reduction Program of the distribution utility, the system loss was as high as 28% when they took over in 2020.
This prompted the launching of Oplan Valeria, a massive anti-pilferage campaign.
Initially, they discovered an average of 230 illegal connections a month. To date, the number was reduced to 10 – 20 cases a month.
Eventually, the system loss declined by a mile, with an average of just 7%. This improvement is beneficial to consumers since system loss charges will just be minimal.

They also strengthened their partnerships with barangay officials in the total rehabilitation of the utility’s facilities and improvements of voltage capacities in exchange for their cooperation to eradicate the “jumpers” in their community.
From 62,000, MORE Power now has 86,000 legitimate consumers.

And from the June 29. 2022 issue of Panay News:

To further improve the quality of its service, prevent injuries and loss of lives, MORE Electric and Power Corporation, the sole power distributor here, retrained its linemen and engineers.

And because of that, MORE Power is the Industry Leader in Safety. “I Am Iloilo City’s” power distribution utility has successfully achieved one million safe man-hours despite the massive work done since February 2020. The distribution utility hit the one million mark last June without lost time, injury or accident.

From the Aug. 15, 2022 issue of Panay News:

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in Western Visayas lauded MORE Electric and Power Corporation for its effective safety first policy and for achieving the one million safe man-hours milestone.

“The accomplishment of the one million safe man-hours is a milestone and an indication of the concern that the employer has for its workers,” DOLE-6 assistant regional director Atty. Dax Villaruel stressed during the one million safe man-hours milestone ceremony on Aug.12.

Another milestone as the distribution utility continues to improve itself not only in services to its consumers but to its employees as well.

And who would have thought that the City Proper Substation the oldest substation in operation, with equipment dating as far back as 1964 will finally be put to rest. Of course, it has to be MORE Power to finally do this when it recently broke ground for its new 33 MVA City Proper Substation and Control Center. The goal is to ensure a more reliable and sufficient energy load and efficient distribution of electricity for Iloilo City. This new City Proper substation will replace the outdated and dangerously outmoded equipment with a new Control Center which brings a in state-of-the-art hardware and software that can remotely control and operate the substation through a SCADA system.

As a good corporate citizen, just recently MORE Power partnered with PUGI or the Public Utilities Group of Iloilo to clear Calle Real of “spaghetti wires” and other eyesores to eventually establish an underground electrical distribution system also along Calle Real, this project will just be an initial initiative that will help level up and promote tourism in the metro.

Indeed bringing MORE to life in “I Am Iloilo City”./PN
