First female president/CEO

AYALA Land Inc. (ALI), the real estate arm of the Ayala conglomerate, has announced the appointment Anna Ma. Margarita “Meean” B. Dy as its first female President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), succeeding Bernard Vincent “Bobby” O. Dy.

Bobby Dy, after serving ALI for 26 years, including nine as President and CEO, will retire from the company on October 1, 2023, taking on a new role as Senior Advisor to ALI Chairman Jaime Augusto Zobel de Ayala (JAZA).

In a letter addressed to employees, JAZA praised Bobby Dy for his role in maintaining a robust financial position for ALI during the challenges posed by the pandemic. Zobel highlighted Bobby Dy’s commitment to employee well-being and support for ALI’s business partners and local communities. In addition, Zobel commended Bobby Dy’s leadership in sustainability efforts, including the successful achievement of carbon neutrality for commercial properties a year ahead of schedule.

JAZA emphasized that Ayala Group practices diligent and effective succession planning across its business units, enabling the next generation of leaders to gain exposure to the entire Ayala ecosystem.

Meean Dy, upon her appointment as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of ALI, was actively involved in the Ayala Group Management Committee meetings and pivotal decisions concerning the entire ecosystem. Meean is not closely related to the retiring Bobby Dy.

JAZA expressed his confidence and trust in Meean Dy, citing her extensive experience in pivotal leadership roles within the Strategic Landbank Management Group, where she played a vital role in launching critical projects like BGC, Nuvali, Vertis, and Arca South.

She oversaw the Residential Business Group and, more recently, took charge of the Malls, Offices, and the Hotels and Resorts Group. JAZA  believes that with Meean at the helm, Ayala Land will continue to make a meaningful impact on the lives and communities it serves.

Meean Dy graduated magna cum laude from Ateneo De Manila University’s Economics Honors Program in 1990. She also obtained  a Master’s degree in Economics from the London School of Economics and Political Science in 1991 and an MBA from the Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration in 1996.

Muntinlupa City’s government has initiated the distribution of Balik-Eskwela Packages, benefiting over 90,000 students from Kindergarten to Grade 12 and daycare students in Early Childhood Education Centers.

He personally distributed these kits to students at various schools in the city, with city councilors and department heads participating in the distribution across other schools.

The Balik Eskwela Package includes essential items such as a school bag, leather shoes, eight notebooks, pencils with a sharpener for Kinder to Grade 3 students, and assorted ball pens for Grade 4 to Grade 12 students. For daycare pupils, the package comprises a school bag, two notebooks, two jumbo pencils, a pad of paper, a box of crayons, and a water tumbler.

Mayor Biazon emphasized the importance of preparing children adequately for school to secure their future, highlighting this initiative as part of the city’s educational agenda. He thanked the Sangguniang Panlungsod for approving the project’s funding, which aims to assist Muntinlupeños who face financial challenges in supporting their children’s education./PN
